Joshua Glover Day
Join us at ABHM on your lunch break this March 11th as we commemorate Joshua Glover Day in partnership with the Milton House. On March 11, 1854, Joshua Glover was broken out of Milwaukee’s jail by a large crowd in resistance to the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. The rescue of Joshua Glover drew the City of Milwaukee into a national debate over slavery, race, and the rights of African Americans both enslaved and free.
