CHICO, Calif. — Chico State has received a $250,000 grant to establish a Black Student Center on campus.
The California State University has provided the grant to Chico State to establish a support center aimed at empowering Black students to achieve both academic and personal success.
This innovative center will be a hub for professional development, undergraduate research opportunities, and comprehensive tutoring services, among other valuable resources, located in the Meriam Library.
The California State University says they are committed to advancing the success of Black students across all 23 campuses. Chico State is dedicated to ensuring that the new success center will play a pivotal role in bolstering the achievements of students.
“We are here to make sure that all students are successful. At the same time, it wasn’t this board that singled out Black students, this country did, and we will never forget that,” said Jack Clarke, a chair of the Board of Trustees for the CSU at their Juneteenth symposium.
