Crook’s Lens Exhibit
Opening Reception and Book Signing
Saturday, September 14, 3-6 pm
On the heels of his recently published book of the same title, Ron Wilkins brings a considerable number of works in his portfolio to The William Grant Still Arts Center. Through Crook’s Lens: A Photographic Journey Through the Black Liberation Struggle, we experience the world as traversed through the perspective of Ron and his lifelong dedication to Pan-Africanism and Black Liberation. Join us to learn about Ron Wilkins’ life’s work initiated in South Los Angeles at the center of the historic Watts Rebellion and expansion into work internationally, the whole time capturing his vision for the future through a photographic medium.
Comments Are Welcome
Note: We moderate submissions in order to create a space for meaningful dialogue, a space where museum visitors – adults and youth –– can exchange informed, thoughtful, and relevant comments that add value to our exhibits.
Racial slurs, personal attacks, obscenity, profanity, and SHOUTING do not meet the above standard. Such comments are posted in the exhibit Hateful Speech. Commercial promotions, impersonations, and incoherent comments likewise fail to meet our goals, so will not be posted. Submissions longer than 120 words will be shortened.
