Tracing Your Roots
Clayborn Benson, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society will lead an impactful discussion on the importance of genealogy and understanding where we come from.
The event will be held in MATC’s Create Gallery and Camus Cafe. The current gallery exhibit, “Building Legacies,” highlights the work of Dr. James Cameron, founder of America’s Black Holocaust Museum and Mr. Benson, who has been labeled as one of Wisconsin’s most knowledgeable African American historians. Opportunities to start your own genealogical trace will be available through volunteers of the Black Historical Society. MATC Retiree Cheryl Randall will also join the discussion
Comments Are Welcome
Note: We moderate submissions in order to create a space for meaningful dialogue, a space where museum visitors – adults and youth –– can exchange informed, thoughtful, and relevant comments that add value to our exhibits.
Racial slurs, personal attacks, obscenity, profanity, and SHOUTING do not meet the above standard. Such comments are posted in the exhibit Hateful Speech. Commercial promotions, impersonations, and incoherent comments likewise fail to meet our goals, so will not be posted. Submissions longer than 120 words will be shortened.
