Introduction To This Series:
This post is one installment in an ongoing news series: a “living history” of the current national and international uprising for justice.
Today’s movement descends directly from the many earlier civil rights struggles against repeated injustices and race-based violence, including the killing of unarmed Black people. The posts in this series serve as a timeline of the uprising that began on May 26, 2020, the day after a Minneapolis police officer killed an unarmed Black man, George Floyd, by kneeling on his neck. The viral video of Floyd’s torturous suffocation brought unprecedented national awareness to the ongoing demand to truly make Black Lives Matter in this country.
The posts in this series focus on stories of the particular killings that have spurred the current uprising and on the protests taking place around the USA and across the globe. Sadly, thousands of people have lost their lives to systemic racial, gender, sexuality, judicial, and economic injustice. The few whose names are listed here represent the countless others lost before and since. Likewise, we can report but a few of the countless demonstrations for justice now taking place in our major cities, small towns, and suburbs.

Body Cam Footage Of Cop Adam Coy Murdering Unarmed Andre Hill Has Been Released; How He Tried To Cover It Up
By Daniel Bell, BSO
December 24, 2020
There was another police murder of an unarmed man again this week. It comes from Columbus, Ohio and the officer was Adam Coy.
Coy wasn’t following protocol and didn’t have his body cam on until after he shot and murdered Andre Hill but luckily, there is technology tied to the body cam that records a 60 second lookback. There’s no audio until he turns it on but we can clearly see that Hill shouldn’t have been shot.
In the video, Coy was approaching a garage Hill was in and pointed his gun. Hill walks out and then is shot. We don’t know what was said but Hill wasn’t being aggressive or anything. He wasn’t resisting any kind of arrest. He was just shot.
After Coy turns his body cam on after he shot Hill, he yells for him to roll over and show his hands. Then tells other officers not to get close because he can’t see his hands.
There was no gun found at the scene.
