MATC partners with America’s Black Holocaust Museum (ABHM) to celebrate Milwaukee’s rich history of civil rights activists and community leaders. The founder of ABHM, Dr. Cameron, is an MATC graduate, as well as several other prominent figures in Milwaukee including Clayborn Benson, founder of Wisconsin Black Historical Society & Museum (WBHSM), and Reuben Harpole, affectionately known as the “Second Mayor of Milwaukee.”

Join us at MATC Create Gallery for one of two opportunities to experience Building Legacies with a Griot-guided tour. ABHM Griots will be on site to guide visitors through the exhibit at 1 PM on January 24th and 31st. Admission is free, and registration is not required!

Magical Black Tears Experience: Museum Exhibition Pilot

Magical Black Tears

This interactive exhibition, based on a children’s picture book, teaches children ages 4-12 about direct action as a vehicle for creating a more just society for Black people. Caregivers and children can watch films, read, write, create, pretend-play, and problem-solve in a fun setting that teaches how everyday people take direct action to create a world free from racism.
