ABHM Celebrates Juneteenth: A Week of Events Honoring Family & Community
This Juneteenth, ABHM invites you to join us throughout the week to celebrate freedom, family, art, culture, and community, in honor of the 52nd Juneteenth Day recognition in the city of Milwaukee presented by Northcott Neighborhood House and ABHM’s 35th anniversary. All of the week’s events and admission to the museum will be free and open to the public thanks to a generous donation from Herb Kohl Philanthropies.*
Featured events for families and children will include story time and arts and crafts with community partners. Our partners will be reading Juneteenth: A Children’s Story by Dr. Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, and other Juneteenth related titles. We will also have arts and crafts activities led by ABHM staff and volunteers. The fun and learning continues with history-focused programs such as tours with our Griots (docents) and opportunities for intergenerational connection.

June 19th, 10 AM to 5 PM CT, Rooted MKE and Niche Book Bar at ABHM. Story Time Along With Arts & Crafts.
June 20th, 10 AM to 12 PM CT, Woodland Pattern Book Center at ABHM. Story Time Along With Arts & Crafts.
June 21st, 10 AM to 12 PM CT, Milwaukee Public Library and HYFIN at ABHM. ABHM Book Club Featuring Afrofuturism.
June 22nd, 1 to 3 PM CT, Bronzeville Histories at ABHM. Coffee & Culture Exploring Oral Histories.
June 23rd, 1 to 3 PM CT, Boswell Books at ABHM. Story Time Along With Arts & Crafts.
