Taking A Ride: Our Time Together Bus Tour
Taking a Ride: Our Time Together Bus Tour is the first-ever joint bus tour between the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM), Wisconsin Black Historical Society (WBHS), and America’s Black Holocaust Museum (ABHM).
To quote Kantara Souffrant at MAM, “Both ABHM and WBHS have been beacons for gathering community, documenting Black experiences, and sharing knowledge on how Black people have shaped Milwaukee and Wisconsin history.” That is why both sites were visited by Derrick Adams while conducting research for his mural Our Time Together on the Milwaukee Art Museum’s East End.
On our tour (which has been a year in the making), we will learn more about the Black community’s rich history in Milwaukee, centering on the compelling stories of Black women from our city and the importance of archives.

Note: We moderate submissions in order to create a space for meaningful dialogue, a space where museum visitors – adults and youth –– can exchange informed, thoughtful, and relevant comments that add value to our exhibits.
Racial slurs, personal attacks, obscenity, profanity, and SHOUTING do not meet the above standard. Such comments are posted in the exhibit Hateful Speech. Commercial promotions, impersonations, and incoherent comments likewise fail to meet our goals, so will not be posted. Submissions longer than 120 words will be shortened.
